Anybody who's spoken to me about Thor, knows my MASSIVE appreciation for Jason Aaron's work. He's really delved deep into the lore and written a fantastic Thor, regardless of whether it's the Mighty or the Unworthy, or even the new War Thor. He's found a way to capture the voice of Thor and refract it through the prism of whomever the story requires. His God Butcher arc was masterful as he had a book where three Thor's of different ages had to work together alongside his own 3 granddaughters. To have 6 such similar voices still ring true and individualistic while simultaneously weaving a heartbreaking and powerful story was epic. And he has continued to wow me with Jane Foster weilding Mjolner. Russell Dauterman's art is wonderfully detailed and the colors, WOW. This book is 64 pages of awesome.

Okay, I relent... After catching a bit of flak (you know who you are haha!) for not picking a Metal book for a pick last week, I've picked the Drowned this week! I try to stick with books that are good jumping on points but these character one-shots are ALL good stand alones. All fantastic and dark re-imaginings of everyone's favorite pointy eared detective (and I don't mean Spock.)
